2000 GUINEAS 1809

The 1st winner of the 2000 Guineas, held on Tuesday 18th April 1809 over the Rowley Mile course, was Wizard (5/6 fav), a chestnut colt by Sorcerer out of a Precipitate mare, owned by Mr Christopher Wilson. A field of 8 runners contested the race which was worth 1450 Guineas (Equivalent to £124,200 in 2017)
